The federal duck stamp featured on this hat was first sold on July 1, 1943, expiring on June 30, 1944. It was the 10th federal duck stamp sold by the U.S. Department of Interior at a price of $1.00. 1,169,352 of these stamps sold during that hunting season helping lay the foundation for today's migratory bird conservation.
The original art was etched into copper by Walter E. Bohl, a renowned game bird artist. Many of his works are on display to this day at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
